I went into this blind because the reviews and the blurbs are intentionally vague. But I should have expected to be pulled thru the emotional wringer by Colleen Hoover.


Here's the truth if you want to know;
He's deaf.
It's a love triangle cheating story.
(They don't have sex, but have feelings, touch, and kiss once.)
His girlfriend has a terminal illness.
It felt like two messy love stories, with two secondary love triangles mixed in.
All I could think the whole time was "I'm so glad my name's not Maggie."

It's brilliantly written and creative. It was just icky and painful, and bittersweet.
I'm actually surprised by the overwhelming positive response, since I thought most GR readers were opposed to cheating stories.
I learned about myself from this, that the guy cheating is much more unpleasant than the girl.
